About Our Parish
Are you new to the church or the area? If so, you are very welcome!
St Andrew’s church is a much loved ancient parish church situated in a beautiful spot nestled behind the Buckland Mill site. The church has traditionally served the Buckland community for many centuries and is mentioned in the Domesday Book! The wider community has a strong attachment to the church building which, for most, goes back through previous generations. These family links result in a comparatively high number of baptisms and weddings.
St Nicholas church' was dedicated in 1960 and serves the Buckland (valley) estate. It is also home to the Buckland and Whitfield Children's Centre.
We are 'anglo-catholic' by tradition, but are forward looking and willing to try new things. Our Sunday services take place at St Andrew's church whereas St Nicholas' church is only used occasionally.
We are part of the Dover Town Benefice under the oversight of Revd Catherine Tucker (interim Team Rector) and Revd Melissa Carter (Team Vicar), supported by Revd Angie Stupple (Curate). Our local parish leaders are Anne and Nigel Collins (Anne is churchwarden and authorised lay minister; Nigel is licensed lay minister and parish administrator).
