Messy Church @St. Nicks
CURRENTLY SUSPENDED

Is a church, not a craft club, that helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour
Is found across the world
Values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration
Is part of The Bible Reading Fellowship which believes, with the historic churches, in one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Messy Church takes place at St Nicholas’ Church on Fridays from 3.15-5.15pm during term time (dates can be found on our
calendar). It’s led by Nigel Collins and Revd Sean Sheffield (our curate).
What happens?
3.15pm Arrival
Refreshments are available as people arrive and some colouring / quizzes which introduce the theme
3.45pm Welcome & Messy Activity
We use crafts to help us explore the theme a bit more
4.30pm Act of worship
Consisting of a song, story/drama & prayer
4.45pm ‘Bring and Share’ Meal
We end with a simple meal – sandwiches, sweet & savouries
5.15pm End
You are welcome to take home anything you’ve made at Messy Church
There is NO COLLECTION – but you may make a financial contribution if you wish.
Who is it for?
There is a focus on families, but really it is for ANYONE! It is a church ‘service’, but perhaps not like one you’ve been to before. You would be most welcome to come and give it a try.
Each week there will be a theme which helps us to understand more about:
-
God and Jesus
-
What it means to be a Christian disciple
We are all at different points in our journey of faith from ‘just looking’ to ‘devoted disciple’ and so we aim to keep things simple and try to avoid ‘church jargon’.
